Where Roots May Grow is a platform to give a voice to those in rural, underserved America. My hope is to educate others, inspire healthier living, and foster a community for those who do not know where to start. Nothing is impossible once you plant a seed.
31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Matthew 13:31-32

Hello everyone! I am a physician assistant student whose passion is rooted in rural medicine. I grew up in rural America, but did not recognize the disadvantages placed on my community until I moved away. As I have grown, I have found my calling in giving back to those who are underserved and providing them with resources to learn, try new things, and be proud of where they are from.
I love to travel with my partner in crime pictured with me! Also, I have just moved to a small rural town in Arkansas, so I am excited to begin this new journey with all of you.
Let’s get started!

Hello! My name is Sidney and I am also a physician assistant student. I come from a rural community and from a line of farmers. I grew up nearly an hour away from the closest city and often travelled miles to reach healthcare and other resources. Largely due to this, I decided to follow my heart and pursue medicine. More specifically, my passion lies in rural healthcare; my career goal is to bridge the gap between rural America and the rest of healthcare.
I am originally from a small town in southern Illinois and recently made the move to Tennessee for school at UTHSC! I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physiology, Neuroscience, and Behavior with a minor in Spanish.
Aside from formal introductions, I enjoy lake days, live music, and spending time outdoors. I am happy you’re here and excited to see the change we can make in rural healthcare!
